How ranking works
No hidden weighting, no paid positions. These are the only rules.
Counted votes this month
Servers are ordered by counted votes since the 1st (UTC). Everyone starts level each month.
One vote per 12 hours
Per server, per IP address and per in-game name — so neither rotating IPs nor alt names stack votes.
Suspicious votes don't count
Votes from VPN, proxy and hosting networks are recorded and still rewarded in-game, but never ranked. Each listing shows how many were excluded.
Verified players only
Player counts come straight from the game server via a signed heartbeat. A count that doesn't move for 12 hours is hidden.
Sponsored placements are always labelled and sit outside the ranked list. Full toplist rules
Find the Best RuneScape Private Server
RuneIndex is an RSPS toplist that ranks RuneScape private servers on genuine monthly votes and shows live, server-reported player counts — so you can tell a busy server from a busy-looking one. Compare OSRS private servers, 317 and 718 RSPS, economy, PvP, ironman and custom servers by revision, XP rate and donation model, then vote for the ones you play.
Every listing shows its evidence: how many of this month's votes were counted, whether the game server itself is accepting connections, whether its player count is reported by a signed heartbeat, and whether the owner declares donations as cosmetic, convenience or pay-to-win. Rankings reset on the 1st of every month, so a new server with an active community can reach the top without competing against years of stockpiled votes.
OSRS Private Servers
Old School RuneScape private servers on modern RuneLite-based clients, from faithful 1x to boosted-rate custom servers.
317 RSPS
The classic revision the RSPS scene was built on — lightweight clients, fast PvP and huge custom-content servers.
718 RSPS
Pre-EoC 2012 content with high-level bosses, Dungeoneering and the 718 interface many players grew up with.
No Pay-to-Win RSPS
Servers whose owners declare cosmetic-only donations, so the best gear is earned in-game, not bought.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an RSPS?
An RSPS (RuneScape Private Server) is a community-run server that recreates or reimagines RuneScape. They are free to play and range from faithful 2006-era and Old School recreations to fully custom servers with their own bosses, items and progression.
How are servers ranked on RuneIndex?
Servers are ranked by counted votes in the current calendar month, so the leaderboard resets on the 1st and every server starts level. Each player can vote once every 12 hours per server, enforced by both IP address and in-game name. Votes from VPN, proxy and hosting networks are recorded but not counted, and paid placements are shown separately and never change a server's rank.
When do votes reset?
Monthly vote totals reset at the start of each calendar month (00:00 UTC on the 1st). All-time vote counts are kept and still shown on each listing, but rankings are decided by the current month so newer servers can compete fairly.
How do I vote for a server?
Open the server's page and click Vote, then enter your in-game username. If the server supports vote rewards, your reward is delivered in-game automatically within a few minutes. You can vote again for the same server after 12 hours.
Is it free to list my RSPS?
Yes. Listing a server on RuneIndex is completely free — create an account, submit your server details, and it appears in the rankings straight away. Optional paid advertising tiers are available for featured placement.
Are RuneIndex player counts real?
Player counts on RuneIndex are reported by each game server itself through a signed heartbeat, about once a minute. Only live counts are shown, marked as verified. Counts that stop updating are hidden, as are counts that don't change at all for 12 hours, which is a sign of a hard-coded number. Servers that don't report show no player count rather than a guess.
Which RSPS should I play?
It depends what you want. Economy servers focus on trading and long-term progression, PvP servers on wilderness and staking, ironman servers on solo self-sufficiency, and custom servers on original content. Browse by category on RuneIndex to compare the most-voted servers in each.
